 Sunam Dam water¡¯s edge park is being made up into ecological park by dividing 3.8km into three sections and in 1st completed on June 13, 2006, cherry blossom tunnel, ground pressure sidewalk, outdoor performance halls, wildflowers and flowers complex are made up. The 2nd and 3rd section will be reborn as the best resting place that nature and people share by forming the ecological swampy land, pampas grass garden and forest bath place etc. in the second half of the year in 2008.

The unique whale museum in Jangsengpo, Korea, has collected, preserved, and exhibited whaling-related remains and provided various whaling-related information that had disappeared since 1986, when whaling was prohibited. It provides an experimental space for ocean ecology and education as well as it is utilized as an area for ocean tourism resources.

The whale laboratory is the only domestic professional whale research institution and studying about conservation and management of whales which inhabit in our seas. It is performing various tasks for Ulsan residents and actively researching by building and moving new office building from National fisheries Research and development institute (located in Busan) to Jangseangpo which is the advance base of the old whaling last March 2006.

The purpose of the Ulsan Sports Park
With the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium as its center attraction, where many thrilling games of the 2002 World Cup were held, the Ulsan Sports Park has been constructed as a theme park. It was completely renovated, with the surrounding green land and a natural lake turning into a more beautiful and comfortable resting place for the audience during the staging of the 2002 World Cup. The construction of Daldong Culture Park, located near the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center, began in March 2001, costing 21 billion and 670 million won on a 56,315 pyeong site. It was completed in July 2003. Since it is adjacent to the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center, the park provides an excellent space for the residents¡¯ recreational activities. Major facilities include Byeokchon Plaza, Suncun Garden, and Makgorapagora.

The Ulsan Petrochemical Complex, which played an important role in the industrial development of Korea, was completed in 1972 as part of the second five-year economic development of the Korean government. During the 1980s, when the demand for petrochemical products increased sharply, more than 20 petrochemical companies, including Koryo Petrochemical, moved into the complex. The complex was developed as a special complex that produces basic combination-type materials, such as basic oil products and synthetic resin.

The Munsu International Archery Field, the largest archery field in the nation that is equipped with the newest facilities, was built near the Munsu World Cup Soccer Stadium in Okdong, Namgu, in July 2002. It cost 13 billion won. The 25,000-pyeong main field can host 240 athletes competing against each other and it seats 1,000. The archery field has a dormitory (one story underground and three stories above ground), and has 10 rooms, conference halls, a restaurant, and a fitness center. Besides, it has a winter training building, complete with eight shooting platforms. This facility is open to the public when there are no ongoing competitions.

Since the first stage of the Ulsan Park project in the Sinjeong-Okdong area of Namgu, which was being implemented jointly with SK Corporation, is completed, Ulsan City opened the park to the public on May 30, 2000. This park was created on a 1.1 million-pyeong site with 100 billion won financed by SK Corporation. This park, which is located within the city, is a perfect place for walking while Ulsan residents can enjoy the natural ecological surroundings. This park is also designed to strike a nice balance between the industrial environment and Ulsan¡¯s rich culture.
